Master of Biblical Studies Program Description

The Master of Biblical Studies (MBS) is a 36–semester–hour graduate program designed to provide a strong biblical foundation for individuals seeking a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of God’s Word. This program equips students to study Scripture with clarity, apply sound principles of biblical interpretation, and grow in theological insight for ministry, teaching, leadership, and personal spiritual development. 


A thesis may be substituted with two (2) additional courses.

Degree Courses

GBTH 590 The Holy Spirit 

This course in pneumatology defines the works and teachings of the Holy Spirit in relationship to the Messianic Kingdom of God. The course defines the Trinity, the Holy Spirit's personality, the Holy Spirit's works in the Old Testament, Baptism in the Holy Spirit, and the Nine Spiritual Gifts.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the doctrine of the Holy Spirit (Pneumatology) and His role within the Trinity and the Messianic Kingdom of God.
  2. Describe the personality and divine nature of the Holy Spirit, distinguishing Him from impersonal force or influence.
  3. Analyze the work of the Holy Spirit in the Old Testament, identifying continuity and development in redemptive history.
  4. Explain the Baptism in the Holy Spirit, including its biblical foundation and purpose for believers.
  5. Identify and interpret the Nine Spiritual Gifts, applying their use biblically, responsibly, and for the edification of the Church.


GBOT 510 The Life of Moses

This course is a detailed look at the life of Moses. It teaches about his early life and his experience with the burning bush. It outlines God's will for the Israeli people and the giving of the Torah. Other topics of this course include: Pharaoh's attempt at compromise, handling discouragement, the Red Sea experience, overcoming bitterness, and following instructions.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the life and calling of Moses, from his early years through his leadership of Israel.
  2. Explain the significance of the burning bush encounter, recognizing God’s calling, holiness, and purpose.
  3. Analyze God’s will for the people of Israel, including the giving of the Torah and covenantal leadership.
  4. Identify leadership challenges faced by Moses, such as compromise, discouragement, bitterness, and obedience.
  5. Apply lessons from Moses’ life to personal faith, leadership development, and faithful obedience to God’s instructions.


GBNT 550 The Reign of Grace

This course examines grace from Old and New Testament perspectives. It describes being under the law, slaves to sin, and freedom that is found in the Messiah. Other topics in this course include: slaves to righteousness, the doctrine of emptiness, walking in the Spirit, the eternal plan of God, and being Super-conquerors.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the biblical doctrine of grace from both Old and New Testament perspectives.
  2. Distinguish between life under the Law and life under grace, understanding freedom from sin through the Messiah.
  3. Describe the transformation from slavery to sin to slavery to righteousness, as taught in Scripture.
  4. Apply principles of walking in the Spirit, living out grace in daily Christian life and ministry.
  5. Interpret key theological themes, including the eternal plan of God, the doctrine of emptiness, and the believer’s identity as more than conquerors in Christ.


GADM 522 Principles of Leadership

This course emphasizes the need for leadership in the ministry. It discusses how to be proactive for the Gospel. Being a team player is one of the most important topics in this course. To be a team player, one must be adaptable, committed, able to communicate, and disciplined.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the biblical necessity of leadership within ministry and Gospel advancement.
  2. Demonstrate proactive leadership principles, applying initiative and responsibility in ministry contexts.
  3. Identify the characteristics of effective team players, including adaptability, commitment, communication, and discipline.
  4. Apply collaborative leadership strategies that strengthen teamwork and unity within ministry settings.
  5. Integrate Christ-centered leadership principles to lead with integrity, purpose, and effectiveness in service to others.


GADM - 540 Faith and its Application

 Faith and Its Application is an advanced course designed to examine the biblical foundation, nature, and practical outworking of faith in the life of the believer. This course explores faith as both a theological principle and a lived reality, emphasizing how genuine faith shapes thinking, decision-making, leadership, perseverance, and obedience to God. Students will study biblical models of faith, the relationship between faith and action, and the application of faith in personal life, ministry, leadership, and times of challenge. The course equips students to move beyond theoretical belief into mature, active faith that produces spiritual fruit and faithful service. 

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the biblical definition and theological foundation of faith as presented throughout Scripture.
  2. Analyze key biblical examples of faith and how faith was expressed through obedience, action, and perseverance.
  3. Distinguish between intellectual belief, saving faith, and active, applied faith in Christian living.
  4. Apply principles of faith to personal life, leadership, ministry, and decision-making in real-world contexts.
  5. Demonstrate how faith operates during trials, uncertainty, and spiritual growth, producing maturity and steadfastness in Christ.


GBOT 540 The Psalms Book One

This course provides a detailed view of Psalms 1-42. It discusses the psalmist's thoughts and methods, as well as the texts' timeless meanings. It gives a modern perspective on the Psalms from the historical past.

 

Learning Outcomes –

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the structure, authorship, and themes of Psalms 1–42.
  2. Analyze the thoughts, emotions, and literary methods used by the psalmists.
  3. Interpret the historical and cultural background of the Psalms to understand their original meaning.
  4. Apply the timeless truths of the Psalms to contemporary Christian life, worship, and devotion.
  5. Demonstrate a modern, faith-based perspective on the Psalms while remaining grounded in their historical context and biblical intent.


GBTH 520 What is the Truth

 What Is the Truth is an advanced course that explores the biblical, theological, and practical understanding of truth in a world shaped by relativism, deception, and competing worldviews. This course examines truth as revealed by God through Scripture, the person of Jesus Christ, and the work of the Holy Spirit. Students will engage with biblical definitions of truth, discernment between truth and error, and the responsibility of believers to live, defend, and apply truth with wisdom and love. Emphasis is placed on developing a renewed mind, spiritual discernment, and a steadfast commitment to truth in personal life, leadership, ministry, and cultural engagement. 

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the biblical definition of truth and its foundation in the character and revelation of God 
  2. Analyze Jesus Christ as the embodiment of truth and the implications of His teachings for Christian faith and living.
  3. Distinguish between biblical truth, cultural relativism, and deception using Scripture and sound discernment.
  4. Apply principles of truth to personal conduct, decision-making, leadership, and ministry contexts.
  5. Defend and communicate biblical truth with clarity, humility, and love in a complex and changing world.


GBTH 532 The Believer's Anointing

This course discusses the five anointings: The Prophet, The Priest, The King, The Leper, and The Messianic. It outlines the characteristics of each anointing and provides an overall view of how the first four culminate in the Messianic Anointing.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and explain the five anointings—Prophet, Priest, King, Leper, and Messianic—from a biblical perspective.
  2. Describe the characteristics and purpose of each anointing within Scripture and redemptive history.
  3. Analyze how the prophetic, priestly, kingly, and leper anointings point toward and culminate in the Messianic Anointing.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of Christ’s fulfillment of the anointings, recognizing their significance for believers today.
  5. Apply principles of the Believer’s anointing to personal spiritual growth, ministry service, and Christ-centered living with biblical balance and discernment.


GBTH 553 Spiritual Warfare III

This course addresses conflicts caused by the demonic realm. It gives us information on how Jesus dealt with demons, how our decisions can be a form of warfare, spiritual management, mind management, and weapons of our warfare.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the nature of spiritual conflict arising from the demonic realm, using biblical foundations and discernment.
  2. Analyze how Jesus confronted and overcame demonic opposition, applying His model to spiritual warfare today.
  3. Evaluate the role of personal decisions as a form of spiritual warfare, recognizing how choices impact spiritual authority and victory.
  4. Apply principles of spiritual and mind management, aligning thoughts and behaviors with biblical truth.
  5. Identify and utilize the weapons of spiritual warfare, exercising faith, authority, and wisdom to live and minister victoriously in Christ.


GMIS 560 Religions of the World

This course is a comprehensive study of world religions, including a comparison of false cults with Christianity. It discusses the aspects of secular religions and non-Christian religions. The formation of cults and the occult are discussed in detail to give the believer information on how to recognize that which strays from the Christian faith.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and describe major world religions, including secular and non-Christian belief systems.
  2. Compare and contrast Christianity with other religions and belief systems, clearly distinguishing biblical truth from false doctrine.
  3. Explain the origins, characteristics, and influence of cults and the occult, using historical and theological analysis.
  4. Demonstrate biblical discernment in recognizing beliefs and practices that deviate from orthodox Christian faith.
  5. Engage individuals from other religious backgrounds with wisdom, respect, and biblical clarity in ministry, counseling, and evangelism.


Thesis  

The thesis serves as the culminating academic component of the Master’s program, allowing students to demonstrate integration of biblical knowledge, research, and practical application.


Thesis Alternative Option:
In place of completing a thesis, a student may choose to enroll in two additional approved courses from the Master of Biblical Studies Program. This option provides added academic depth while maintaining the rigor and integrity of the degree program.
