Master of Ministry Degree Program Description

The Master of Ministry (M.Min.) degree program is a 36–semester–hour graduate program designed to provide a strong biblical foundation for all Christians, with special emphasis on those called to the pulpit and ministry leadership. The program equips students with theological depth, practical ministry skills, and spiritual formation for effective service in the church and community.  


A thesis may be substituted with two (2) additional courses.

Degree Courses

GBNT 500 Acts of the Apostles 

This course is an In-depth look at the Book of Acts. It outlines the lives of each apostle and provides key facts and the purposes of the formation of the early church. Other topics in this course include: the three great missions of Paul, and the establishment of church government.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the purpose, structure, and theological themes of the Book of Acts within the New Testament.
  2. Describe the lives, ministries, and contributions of the apostles, recognizing their roles in the formation of the early Church.
  3. Analyze the development of the early Church, including worship, fellowship, leadership, and mission.
  4. Examine the three major missionary journeys of the Apostle Paul, identifying their significance for global evangelism.
  5. Explain the establishment of church government and leadership models as presented in Acts and apply these principles to contemporary ministry and church leadership.


GBNT 540 The Letters of Peter 

This course examines the Letters of the Apostle Peter and his concerns about false doctrines. Each of the Peterist books begins with a detailed outline and discusses the key chapters and verses that help define each of the letters given to the young church.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the historical background, authorship, and purpose of the letters of the Apostle Peter.
  2. Identify and analyze key themes, including suffering, holiness, perseverance, and warnings against false doctrine.
  3. Outline the structure and progression of each Petrine letter, demonstrating an understanding of their organization.
  4. Interpret key chapters and passages that address challenges faced by the early Church.
  5. Apply Peter’s teachings to contemporary Christian life, leadership, and ministry with faithfulness and doctrinal discernment.


GBOT 521 Tabernacle of Moses 

This course is a detailed look at the Tabernacle in the wilderness and its furnishings. It defines many of the Tabernacle's symbols. It gives the Believer a clear view of the Messiah from an Old Testament perspective. The Breastplate is discussed especially in light of prophecy and messianic imagery.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Describe the structure, purpose, and layout of the Tabernacle of Moses, including its furnishings and functions.
  2. Explain the symbolic meaning of the Tabernacle and its elements, interpreting their spiritual and theological significance.
  3. Identify messianic imagery within the Tabernacle, demonstrating how it points to Christ from an Old Testament perspective.
  4. Analyze the significance of the priestly garments, with special focus on the Breastplate and its prophetic symbolism.
  5. Integrate insights from the Tabernacle into biblical theology, worship, teaching, and a deeper understanding of God’s redemptive plan.


GBNT 506 An In-depth Study of the Book of James

This course is an in-depth look at James, focusing on the use of the tongue and the wisdom of the Old Testament for First-Century Believers. The course outlines James verse by verse and gives great perspectives on faith in trials, patience in trials, and being a doer of the word of God.

 

Learning Outcomes –

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the historical background, authorship, and purpose of the Book of James within the first-century church.
  2. Interpret James verse by verse, demonstrating accurate biblical understanding and theological insight.
  3. Analyze the biblical teaching on the use of the tongue, recognizing its power for both harm and righteousness.
  4. Apply Old Testament wisdom principles as reflected in James to faith, conduct, and spiritual maturity.
  5. Demonstrate practical Christian faith, becoming doers of the Word through perseverance, patience in trials, and obedient living.


GBOT 553 A Survey of the History of Israel 

This course is a study of Israel, its birth, development into a nation, and subjugation as a nation. It defines God's Theocratic Rule and Israel under man's rule. It gives the chronology of the patriarchs and the chronology of Israel in the wilderness. King Saul, King David, and King Solomon are discussed at length, along with the division of Israel into two kingdoms.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Trace the historical development of Israel, from its patriarchal beginnings through its formation as a nation.
  2. Explain God’s theocratic rule over Israel, contrasting it with Israel’s transition to human leadership and monarchy.
  3. Identify and describe key chronological periods, including the patriarchs, the wilderness journey, and the settlement of the land.
  4. Analyze the reigns of King Saul, King David, and King Solomon, recognizing their spiritual, political, and historical significance.
  5. Explain the division of Israel into two kingdoms, understanding its causes, consequences, and theological implications for biblical history and faith.


GBPA 520 Leadership Roles and Responsibilities 

This course outlines the roles and responsibilities of the Believer. It discusses effective biblical ministry, prayer partners, altar attendants, and the need for security in churches today. This course will offer important tips on establishing an efficient and prosperous ministry.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the biblical roles and responsibilities of believers within the Church and ministry settings.
  2. Identify principles of effective biblical ministry, including servant leadership and spiritual accountability.
  3. Describe the functions of prayer partners and altar attendants, recognizing their importance in church ministry.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of church safety and security needs, applying wisdom and preparedness in ministry environments.
  5. Apply practical strategies for establishing an efficient and prosperous ministry, grounded in biblical principles and ethical leadership.


GBTH 560 Graduate Hermeneutics 

This is an advanced study of Biblical Hermeneutics. It teaches contextual analysis of scripture according to biblical principles. The course specifically covers preparation for biblical interpretation, Semantics, the levels and branches of hermeneutics, and systematic hermeneutics.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Demonstrate advanced skills in biblical interpretation, applying sound hermeneutical principles with accuracy and depth.
  2. Conduct contextual analysis of Scripture, considering historical, cultural, literary, and theological factors.
  3. Apply semantic analysis to biblical texts, understanding word meanings within their proper context.
  4. Explain the levels and branches of hermeneutics, including their role in responsible biblical interpretation.
  5. Integrate systematic hermeneutics into advanced study, teaching, preaching, and scholarly research with biblical integrity.


GBTH 510 The Mind of Christ 

The Mind of Christ explores the biblical foundations of Christ-centered thinking, emphasizing spiritual transformation through renewed thought patterns. Students examine Scripture to understand how adopting the mind of Christ shapes character, decision-making, emotional health, and effective ministry, aligning beliefs and behavior with biblical truth and spiritual maturity. 

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain the biblical foundation of Christ-centered thinking, using Scripture to define the mind of Christ.
  2. Demonstrate how renewed thinking leads to spiritual transformation, aligning beliefs and behavior with biblical truth.
  3. Apply principles of the mind of Christ to character development, decision-making, and emotional health.
  4. Evaluate personal thought patterns in light of Scripture, identifying areas needing renewal and growth.
  5. Integrate Christ-centered thinking into ministry and daily life, promoting spiritual maturity, wisdom, and effective service.


GMIS 520 Major Religions 

This course is a comprehensive study of world religions, including a comparison of false cults with Christianity. It discusses the aspects of secular religions and non-Christian religions. The formation of cults and the occult are discussed in detail to give the believer information on how to recognize that which strays from the Christian faith.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Identify and describe major world religions, including secular and non-Christian belief systems.
  2. Compare and contrast Christianity with other religions and belief systems, clearly distinguishing biblical truth from false doctrine.
  3. Explain the formation, characteristics, and influence of cults and the occult, using historical and theological analysis.
  4. Demonstrate discernment in recognizing beliefs and practices that deviate from orthodox Christian faith.
  5. Apply biblical truth with wisdom and compassion when engaging individuals from other religious backgrounds in ministry, counseling, and evangelism.


GCCS 540 Pastoral Counseling 

This course begins with premarital counseling and continues through problems that exist within marriage, taking a look at biblical marriage models. It will give tips on choosing the right mate, the effects of premarital counseling, marriage problems, and working through marital conflicts.

 

Learning Outcomes – 

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Explain biblical models of marriage and apply scriptural principles to pastoral counseling contexts.
  2. Demonstrate effective premarital counseling practices, including guidance on mate selection and preparation for marriage.
  3. Identify common marital challenges and conflicts and understand their spiritual, emotional, and relational dimensions.
  4. Apply biblical counseling strategies to help couples work through marital problems and restore healthy relationships.
  5. Integrate pastoral care, wisdom, and compassion in counseling marriages, strengthening families, and supporting long-term relational stability.


Thesis 

Instead of taking the Thesis, the student may opt to take two additional courses from the Master of Ministry Program.

 

The Master’s Thesis in Ministry is a culminating academic and practical project designed to demonstrate the student’s ability to integrate biblical theology, ministry practice, and scholarly research. The thesis allows students to explore a specific area of ministry relevant to their calling, experience, or vocational focus.


Students will identify a ministry-related topic such as leadership, pastoral care, discipleship, counseling, church growth, missions, worship, or Christian education. The thesis must reflect sound biblical interpretation, theological depth, and practical application to real-life ministry contexts.
